Checklist: before you change App Store prices by country
Regional pricing is easy to get wrong in ways that are hard to undo. Run through this list before you schedule anything.
Before you calculate
- Know where your users are. Pull downloads and trial starts by country from App Store Connect analytics. Price changes only matter where you have traffic.
- Record today’s prices and conversion. Export current prices per country and a few weeks of conversion rates so you have a baseline.
- Pick your base and floor. Choose a base country and price, and a minimum you won’t go below. A floor protects against very low prices in the cheapest markets.
Before you schedule
- Start with a handful of countries. Three to five large lower-priced markets give a readable result.
- Remember decreases can’t be reversed. Once a decrease takes effect, going back means a new increase, with notice and possibly consent.
- Decide on existing subscribers. Decreases reach them automatically. For increases, choose whether to preserve their price.
- Check for scheduled changes. Only one future change is allowed per country and plan; a new one overwrites the old.
- Choose a start date. Leave at least a couple of days, and avoid dates when you can’t watch the results.
After the change
- Keep a record. Save exactly what Apple accepted per country. AppPriceKit exports a CSV receipt for this.
- Measure for at least a few weeks. Compare conversion, revenue per visitor and refunds in the changed countries against the baseline and against unchanged countries.
